“Stone Egg & Willow” by Dan Chevalier | http://etsy.me/2psZUGd
This little entity begs attention in it’s own right. While fashioned and polished with a rotary tool by hand, it led me to it’s own desired egg shape. Rather than coat it with chemicals, I have left it “organic” – this means that the polish is not a high gloss and allows for a natural, semi-wet look. This nugget of quartz is possibly mixed with iron inclusions, or “blood veins”, that almost look like a cracked egg. It does have some small craters and pockmarks, but after hours and days of sanding, polishing and no chemical coatings, I was pleased with it’s natural, semi-glossy look. I have paired this egg nugget with a diamond willow branch that I cut into sections and then shaped to hold the stone. It has an oil-based polyurethane coating, with no stains involved.
